Yes!! It’s so interesting to unravel those things gradually — I think we forget that it’s OK for work to be easy (if it’s the right kind of work). I’ve been teaching writing workshops on and off for years because that’s like, the number 1 marketable skill (allegedly) of having a writing MFA, and I just realized this week that I don’t want to do it anymore. I thought I had to because teachers are good people, and I wanted to be seen as a good person. (And I even feared that all of my teaching anxiety meant I was in fact a bad person.) So freeing to lighten up on that score!
